This is a great site containing histology lecture notes
Can You Do the Following?
Classify epithelial tissue into specific types based on structure, location, histology, and function.
Classify connective tissue into specific types based on structure, location, histology, and function
Describe the basement membrane and its components
Describe and compare endothelium and mesothelium.
Classify and give examples of glands.Glands are classified by structure and by modes of secretion
Name the various cells of the different types of connective tissues.Note the prefixes of the connective tissues that are used to describe the cells of each type. The cells in Connective Tissue Proper are called fibroblasts (when young and mitotic) and fibrocytes when they are mature. The cells in Cartilage are called chondroblasts (when young and mitotic) and chondrocytes (when they are mature). The cells of bone are called osteoblasts and osteocytes following the same pattern as above. The cells of blood get a little more complicated in naming and we will address that later. Please also note special cells in the tissues, such as mast cells and macrophages.
Describe the general characteristics of nervous tissue.
Classify muscle tissue into one of the three types based on structure, location, and function.
Compare and contrast the structure and function of cutaneous, mucous, and serous membranes.
Describe the steps of tissue repair.
Analyze the changes that occur in tissue from embryonic development throughout a person's lifetime.
